This series demonstrates the installation of a big window in Aberdeen.
In the Studio
soldering the first side of the top section of a large, 3-tiered window.
Trimming the window
The trim for the middle section, a 6'x6' panel, is carefully installed.
A carpenter applies trim to 5'x8' panel
5'x8' panel completed and safely installed
A frightening thought!
Careful! A carpenter pounds finishing nails into trim to hold the panel tight against previously-installed double thermopane glass.
A panel arrives
The large 6'x6' panels are delivered to the window frame on large plywood "pallets", and carefully set in place
Finishing the top panel of three. Each measures 6'x6'.
This is NOT the way to deliver the panels. The delivery was the most frightening part. In the 80's,the delivery company had no insurance, no outside protective cover, but did have a flat tire on the highway!
We did not hire the delivery company!!
Finished at last!
The three-level project, 18 ft. high, is complete!
Close-up of 5'x8' panel. Shadow of reinforcing bar can be seen behind the bottom seam.
